I felt I needed to post this review after reading a few other negative ones. My husband and I stayed at Azul Tulum in 2008 for our honeymoon. It was perfect from the beginning to the end. The rooms were impeccable, huge and beautiful. Food was great (Ceviche, Mexican and International - all superfresh and tasty). Jose, the chef (hope he's still there) did an amazing job catering to our wishes. He even gave us private Mexican cooking classes in his high-tech kitchen. All the staff was amazing, no exceptions. Very friendly, super attentive and always going beyond and above what we expected. One day we came back to our room from dinner and had a bubble bath and sparkling wine prepared for us, complimentary of course.
The only thing that is important to know about this hotel is that it's not directly at the beach, even though it's right at the water with beautiful cabanas to hang out in. In order to get to the beach, it's a 3 minutes drive (either with your rental car or the hotel staff drives you there and picks you up).
We really don't have anything negative to say about this place and are planning to go back there this October!
